Based on the writer/director's own experiences, Remedy is a narrative film about a woman who becomes a sex worker almost by accident, beginning as a dominatrix before transitioning into a full-time professional submissive and explores her subsequent psychological deterioration. It may be the first film to depict the experiences of a professional submissive, and one that approaches them unflinchingly. Even in sequences where the hero is in a so-called dominant role, her level of power is questioned, provoking the question: is there really such a thing as a professional dominant?
